Contact our Center City practice in Philadelphia today to find out if Invisalign® aligners can give you a straighter smile.
Crooked teeth are a common problem. Traditionally, straightening a misaligned smile could only be accomplished through months of wearing shiny metal braces that scrape and irritate the skin, catch and trap bits of food, and occasionally break, necessitating an emergency trip to the orthodontist for repair. Now, there is an alternative to metal braces that involves significantly less hassle. Available at our Center City, Philadelphia practice, Invisalign® aligners offer a whole new way to achieve straight and even teeth.
The Invisalign® system uses a series of custom-fabricated clear plastic aligners. Each of the aligners is designed to push the teeth into a slightly straighter position than the one before it. On average, each aligner is worn for two weeks, although this period (as well as the overall treatment time) will depend on the degree and type of straightening to be done.

Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign® aligners can be removed for eating, brushing, and flossing. They are also designed to fit comfortably, with no rough or sharp edges to scratch or tear the skin inside the mouth.
While the aligners are being worn, they are virtually unnoticeable. They are designed to fit snugly and allow the natural color and shape of the teeth to remain visible. This makes the system especially popular with adults, who may feel self-conscious about their crooked teeth but not be willing to undergo treatment with traditional braces.

At JFK Dental Care in Center City, Philadelphia, the process of using Invisalign® aligners begins with taking impressions of the teeth as well as a series of photos, all of which are sent to a lab. At the lab, advanced computer technology is used to create a three-dimensional model of the teeth and to simulate their movements during the straightening process. A series of models is then created to represent the stages of the projected treatment, and these are sent to our office for approval by Dr. Barry Dubin. Once the models are approved, they will be used to create the custom aligners.
